The Sardona Fountain

Its been one of the greatest experiences ever, to be part of the stone carving crew working at the terrazzo fountain 'SARDONA BRUNNEN' in Zürich. Layer by layer we worked on the solid concrete and stone construction, to finally add the vertical and overhang terrazzo, a mix of concrete and stones from the source of the Limmat river in the Sardona mountains. These stones have colors of green, yellow, and purple, several greys and white. While later the fountain surface was sanded, it created a smooth surface with the cut through these stones.

The fountain is made for the 150 years anniversary of the 'Wasserversorgung Zürich' and its a competition winner of the stone carver Christian Aubry and the architects Timon Reichle.
